It was 9:30 p.m. last night before they were finally able to draw blood from Evan’s port. The resident came in around midnight to let us know that the CBC showed his neutrophils were back on the upswing. I could tell Evan felt better because he ate two bowls of cereal before going to bed! The first real food he had eaten in a couple of days.
They did another CBC today and all his counts are looking good, we're so thankful. Evan was discharged from the hospital this afternoon.
Next week, #46 in the treatment schedule, is another built in break.
Looking forward to a quite and restful 4th of July. We appreciate you checking in on Evan.

Evan had kind of a rough night. He had a 102.5 fever and ached from his teeth to his toes. He’s feeling a bit better this morning since his fever is now down to 99 degrees.
After three attempts to draw blood from his port this morning, they’re now giving him a medication that will sit in his port line and help to dissolve the partial blood clot that is blocking the line. This is a relatively common occurrence with ports, although it’s not happened to us before.
They are continuing to give Evan antibiotics, although the culture from yesterday so far has been negative. Yesterday’s CBC showed his counts had dropped again since Monday. If the fever stays away and his counts show any improvement later today, we might get to go home tomorrow.
Thank you for the continued prayers!
