Evan continues to run a fever today. He has spent the majority of time the past couple of days sleeping, which is good. His little body is repairing itself from the harsh effects of treatment. No change in is white blood cell counts, so they are not regenerating yet. Tomorrow will be a better day.
Thank you for your continued prayers.

Well, not much has changed since we checked in yesterday. Evan’s still running a fever, it was 101.7 (isn’t that a local radio station?) early this morning and is hovering around 101.3 now. And, that’s after Tylenol. He’s been getting regular doses of Oxycodone for his ribcage pain. That pain is associated with the GCSF injections. GCSF makes your bone marrow work really hard and it causes Evan a great deal of deep bone pain. This is nothing new, he has this side effect with each go round.
He will receive both blood and platelet transfusions today. To show you how fast counts drop, his platelets were 92 on Tuesday and they are 20 today (150-350 is normal). His white blood cells are 0.15 (normal is 4.50-13.50), so he has like one white blood cell swimming around. Scary stuff. The good news is they haven’t found any source of infection, so the fever is likely just a side effect of the neutropenia.
Evan said last night, “I wish God would smile on me and take away my pain.” Praying for a smile today.

Evan's fever got worse through the night. We gave him Motrin around midnight to try to alleviate his symptoms until this morning.
He woke up feeling pretty bad and his temp was climbing again, so we knew we were headed back to the hospital. He was faint and short of breath, which tells me he probably needs a blood transfusion. He's had some other issues this week causing him some pain, so they are doing quite a few cultures this afternoon just to rule out infection. We're waiting on his blood counts to come back now.
Thanks for your positive thoughts and prayers. We'll keep you posted.
